Freight Island

We used our experience of working within the festival industry, rather than looking at cleaning this venue as a restaurant. Daily tasks and using increased staff on the days the venue saw increased footfall. Continued communication with the management team to ensure additional cleansing needs were supported.

About Freight Island:

Freight Island is an indoor street food venue situated in Mayfield Depot in Manchester city centre. The venue situated in Manchester’s historic former railway station has a capacity of 10,000. It is an inspiring new urban landscape carved from a long-forgotten freight depot. The facility provides amazing food, drinks and entertainment for a variety of audiences. The facility is open 7 days a week so it ensures quality cleanliness at all times. Ideal provides 2-10 staff for each event, depending on the requirements of the venue and its specific event.

What we did:

Ideal provided services like:

  • Toilet Cleansing
  • Site cleansing
  • Waste Management
  • Monthly Jet Washing of floors

Summary:

With such a large scale venue working on a 7 day a week basis with inside and outside tables the cleansing and maintenance needed to be managed swiftly and effectively to ensure the site was clean and ready to go every day before service commences.

We used our experience of working within the festival industry, rather than looking at cleaning this venue as a restaurant. Daily tasks and using increased staff on the days the venue saw increased footfall. Continued communication with the management team to ensure additional cleansing needs were supported.

Monthly Deep cleansing of the large scale concrete footways.

Following these duties being completed, the venue was left in a spotless condition ready for the following day’s event. The continuous cleaning throughout the day meant customers could see the sanitisation process, which we understand has become a major concern post-pandemic.

“Ideal understood the gravity of the task at hand by ensuring to gain as much information as possible from not only Manchester Pride staff but other stakeholders on the site too. They took the initiative to arrange meetings and visits with key venues around The Village. This went a long way to putting people’s mind at ease before they undertook the task in the first year. There’s been a great amount of positive feedback in relation to the cleansing of the streets.”
